The GEA Retreat position has been conceived and planned for a long time! In reality, it was difficult to find the right piece of land that could easily accept and implement the entire plan we had in our minds. However, after brief market research, this location somehow came to us (we’ll tell you all about this when you visit)! 🤩

The geolocation is in Presjeka Village, part of the better-known Duga, located on the Niksic  Gacko (B&H) regional road in Central Montenegro. For many centuries, this area was a significant course of powerful historical forces. Many armies and military leaders passed through this gorge, but never freely and peacefully. Battles were fought, heroes were killed, both by conquerors and Montenegrins, and this gorge remained a vicious place for all who wished to take the freedom of one people.

It is not without reason that, after the battles in the Duga Gorge, a senior Turkish military commander wrote down, and the Paris newspaper quoted:

In hell, the lord is the devil, and in the karst, Montenegrins are! Nobody can beat them here!

The Community House

One of our goals is to create a community with you. We help the local community grow, and we like our guests to be involved too!

The Community House is our shared space where you can savour breakfast, enjoy coffee or tea, prepare your favourite meals, participate in workshops and nutrition classes, and use multimedia facilities. It also functions as a co-working space for hosts & digital nomads.

Boasting a 16-meter-long terrace overlooking the valley, the Community House offers breathtaking views. Whether it’s a cup of coffee or tea on crisp mornings or a glass of local wine during picturesque sunsets, the terrace provides the perfect backdrop for relaxation.

FAQ

How do I reach GEA Retreat if I don’t have a car?

GEA is reachable by taxi transfers from all major Montenegrin airports (Podgorica, Tivat) and from Dubrovnik. If you prefer public transport, we’ll guide you to the nearest bus connections and arrange a pick-up from Niksic. We’re happy to help plan the easiest route.

Is the retreat remote - and what does that mean for my stay?

Yes, GEA is intentionally tucked away in the peaceful countryside of Central Montenegro. You’ll be surrounded by mountains, fresh air, and quiet – but still within driving distance of national parks, towns, and activities. Remote enough for soul rest; connected enough for comfort.

What should I expect from the weather in this region?

Central Montenegro enjoys four distinct seasons. Summers are warm and sunny, while spring and autumn offer mild temperatures perfect for hiking, yoga, and nature exploration. Winters are crisp and calm. We’ll advise you on what to pack depending on your travel dates.

Is the accommodation suitable for solo travellers and couples?

Absolutely. Both Njegos and Golija apartments are designed to feel warm, private, and grounding. Solo travellers love the peace and personal space, while couples enjoy the romantic mountain views and terrace sunsets.
